Instructor: Jessica Sadlier
Ages 10-13: Mondays, 10:00am-11:30am
Ages 13+: Wednesdays, 2:00-3:30pm

A Makerspace is a place where people get together to make things. This hands-on learning-by-doing experience will introduce students to the Maker concept. The only prerequisite is curiosity and a desire to make things!

This introductory course is a great starting point for exploring fabrication techniques and the skills to use them. Ideas, skills and projects will evolve as students explore and tinker using both low and high tech tools. We will explore the resources available at Technocopia including the various tools used in areas such as the woodworking shop, textile studio, and digital fab lab. This class will focus on learning and using practical skills in the design and creation of several small-scale projects. Collaboration and sharing will be encouraged in the development of age-appropriate projects. We will employ aspects of design thinking in the generation and implementation of these projects.
