Loading Dock Saftey
The Davis Printer’s Building loading dock is a great asset for Technocopia members. It grants the ability to easily transport large and heavy objects in and out of the building. While the operation of the loading dock is fairly simple, it is important that no steps are forgotten.
Operating Procedure
To open a door:
Locate the controls to the right of the door you want to open.
Press the green button with an up arrow on it and says “OPEN”.
Wait for the door to open completely before passing anything through the opening.
To close a door:
Check the area under the door for any obstructions and remove them.
Let anyone else who is using the door that you are closing it so they know to stand back.
Locate the controls to the right of the door you want to close.
Press the green button with a down arrow on it and says “CLOSE”.
Watch the door and the area around it as it closes to make sure it does not hit anything.
To stop the door from moving:
While the door is in motion, it can be stopped using the red button on the controls which has a circle on it and says “STOP”.
Once the door has been stopped it can be opened or closed from where it is stopped by pressing the corresponding green button on the controls.
Information and Saftey
Always double check to make sure the loading dock doors are closed when you are done using them. If they are left open, anyone could enter the building, causing a security issue.
Do not try to move the doors with your body. They are not made to be moved by hand. If there is a problem with the door control, contact a Technocopia staff member.
Stay clear of the doors while they are in motion. They will not stop automatically if there is an obstruction in the door. To avoid injury or damaging the motor, be sure to stand clear of the doors while they are in motion.
suggestions
Stay near the door controls while watching the area when the door is in motion so you will be able to quickly press the “STOP” button in case of an emergency.
When leaving the building, remember to leave through the back door, not the loading dock. This will lessen the chance of accidentally leaving the doors open.
