A Makerspace is a place where people get together to learn, explore, share ideas, and make things. It is a learning-by-doing experience and this class is designed to help teenagers explore Technocopia’s resources to do just that! The only prerequisite is curiosity and a desire to make things!
This course is a great starting point for exploring fabrication techniques and the skills to use them. Ideas, skills and projects will evolve as students explore and tinker using both low and high tech tools. We will explore the resources available at Technocopia including various tools used in areas of woodworking, textiles, and digital fabrication. This class will include a focus on design and creation of several small-scale projects. Collaboration and sharing will be encouraged in the development of these projects and we will employ aspects of design thinking in the generation and implementation of them. This studio time is specifically designed to suit students aged 13-17. A second teen maker space studio A runs on Monday mornings with the same philosophy and lesson outline, but will encourage repeating students to take on new projects.
