This survey course tells the story of the formation of the modern United States History through the various cultural and artistic developments of its people. Our story begins with the native people of the Americas and continues to the seeds of the American Revolution. Special attention is given to traditionally underrepresented groups. Students will learn how to use primary source material and how to read literary works of the time. Through experimentation in literature, art, drama and culture we’ll deepen our understanding of the unfolding story of United States. Maps, timelines and outlines are incorporated into student’s weekly work and students are expected to perform research and write reports.
